Dining at the first and original Din Tai Fung 鼎泰豐 branch in Taipei (What to expect)

During our trip, this was the only “touristy” thing that we actually did. Everyone was thinking where we can have dinner and it just so happened that my dad’s friend suggested we dine at the original Din Tai Fung.

It wasn’t my first time to eat at this branch but I’m happy we went back to eat here because I can share with you guys how to go here and how the place looks like!

We didn’t commute here (sorry), my dad’s friend has a car so we drove here but the nearest station to this restaurant is Dongmen (東門) Station, exit 5. Upon going out of exit 5, you just have to walk straight accross a block before you can reach Din Tai Fung.

Not hard to miss the restaurant. You will definitely see a long line outside.

Upon arriving, get your que number from the girl below the LED number board (the LED number board actually tells you approximately how long you will wait before you’ll be seated)

IMG_5620.JPG
there is always staff on that area so it’s not hard to get your que number
IMG_5622.JPG
you’ll be given your queue number and a paper where you can tick off your orders while waiting
IMG_5624
there is a menu below the screen where your que number will be called if it’s your turn

there are english translations and photos for easier understanding

restaurant hours: Monday to Friday 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM; Saturday to Sunday 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM

As soon as your que number is flashed on the TV, you can finally enter the restaurant!

What we ordered:

IMG_5640
Pork Xiaolongbao (only the best)
IMG_5641
Pork Chop Fried Rice
IMG_5642
Shrip and Pork Wontons with House Soy Sauce
IMG_5644
Steamed Chinese Style Layered Cake

all photos taken using an iPhone

I would of course recommend trying everything we ordered. They were so delicious!

Hopefully you can add this to your itinerary when you visit Taipei! The place is not hard to find  ❤️️
