Sapporo: What to do (Odori Park, photo with the Sapporo sign, Sapporo Beer Factory, Susukino Shopping District, Shopping at 5 floored Daiso, Ippudo Ramen, Exploring Sapporo JR Station) and how to go there

Just like what I mentioned from my previous blog post, we joined a tour for this Hokkaido trip so I cannot give the “how to” of some places. But I did my best to take down notes and took photos of the “how to” of the places that we went to in Sapporo. It was mostly spontaneous so I would like to apologize in advance if there are directions that aren’t as clear.

Odori Park

During our time there, our tour guide mentioned that there was a festival held in Odori Park where they served beer, wine, ramen, beef, ice cream you name it!

We decided to head to Odori Park to check it out!

How to go to Odori Park:

Odori Park is N07 from the train and coming from Sapporo Station you need to pay 200 Yen for the fare

Click the english option on the screen and choose the 200 option. Insert the money on the specific area (there are english words so it’s not hard to understand)

how the ticket will look like
IMG_3338
Insert ticket as shown above. Follow the arrow that is on the ticket as you insert it inside the machine
IMG_3337
head towards the sign with Odori written on it

we decided to take exit 5

Taking a photo on the Sapporo sign

I noticed there were some people who posted their photos on a Sapporo sign so I asked my dad to help me find the place and it turns out he knows where I can find it! The place is just accross Odori Park! It’s in front of the clock tower.

Sapporo Beer Factory

We were almost unable to visit the factory since a week before we arrived there was an earthquake in Hokkaido. Fortunately the factory already opened it’s doors when we arrived! The only downside we faced was that the tasting room was closed when we were there because it was a holiday 💔

How to go to Sapporo Beer Factory:

We actually told our tour guide to drop us off the beer factory after our day trip to Biei then we walked home. It was quite far so I would suggest that you take a cab to the Beer Factory.

There is also a restaurant accross the Beer Museum and a gift shop. If you want to eat beef and lamb, I’d recommend the restaurant accross the Beer Museum.

there will be a black square on that will be placed on the table and when you expand it it’s a bib for you to wear

we ordered another lamb because it was so delicious!
IMG_3465
there is a Sapporo Classic that’s only available in Hokkaido! We drank this kind of beer everytime we could!

Susukino Shopping District

My parents already went to Sapporo before so my dad already knew about Susukino. It’s a long alley of shops that’s similar to Shinsaibashi (if you know the place or have been here).

How to go to Susukino Shopping District:

From Sapporo Station, Susukino is at N08 so same as Odori Park you have to pay 200 yen for the one way train ride.

How to go to the 5 Floored Daiso:

From the Susukino Shopping District, find the area with number 1

IMG_3781
you should see the this sign with 1 BUT YOU WILL NOT CROSS HERE
IMG_3782
instead you will turn left
IMG_3783
just keep on walking straight and you’ll already see Daiso

Ippudo Ramen

How to go to Ippudo Ramen:

From Susukino Shopping District, find the area with number 6

Exploring Sapporo JR Station

There are a lot of shops and restaurants inside Sapporo JR Station and outside as well.

We didn’t have much time in Sapporo so we only had a chance to have dinner inside the station but I would recommend this place to those who wants to discover restaurants and shop.

IMG_3310

IMG_3311
they have an area called paseo dining but their whole “paseo” area under the station IS HUGE

we decided to pick this restaurant

it’s always a hassle to remove my shoes whenever this is the type of place where we will eat but I AIN’T COMPLAINING! this actually takes me back to our first trip to Japan when we were still kids!
