One of THE most viral restaurants in Shanghai, and honestly, for good reason!!
Long time ago lamb skewers 很久以前羊肉串 started in Beijing in 2008 and is famous for its Mongolian lamb. One thing you’ll immediately notice is that many diners are wearing cooling patches on their foreheads!
The first branch we went to was Nanjing Road No. 1 Department Store (南京路第一百货店) since it was the closest one to us. But as soon as we arrived, we found out the wait time was 2 to 3 hours 😭. There were so many people waiting outside, and we were already really hungry since we hadn’t been able to have a proper dinner before leaving Hangzhou.

I asked one of the staff members how to join the queue, and looking completely helpless (and probably very hungry), he kindly helped me book a spot at a different branch 🥹. He told us that if we took a cab to the other location, the timing would be just right and we’d be able to eat almost immediately when we arrived.

We ended up eating at Long Time Ago Mutton Skewers Shaanxi South Road Branch (很久以前羊肉串 陕西南路店).

Enter how many adults and kids if any. Then just order and pay!

It didn’t take long before our first batch of orders arrived!

My dad and brother told the staff it was almost my birthday since it was close to midnight, even though I told them not to 😭. The staff were so nice and prepared this for me! Thankfully, they didn’t sing “Happy Birthday” out loud, but they did play a birthday song on the screen 😆. It was such a nice way to start my birthday 🥹.

After that, we proceeded to order more food 🤣.

We ended the night with free ice cream!! It was so good, and I wish I had saved more room in my stomach so I could have had a second one 😆.

This is definitely one of the restaurants I’ll be telling everyone about whenever they ask me what’s good in Shanghai!
