Sea Abalone Porridge (바다마루전복죽) (How to go, what to expect) – 4.72 on Naver!

I first tried abalone porridge in Jeju, and I LOVED it!

Since we were in Busan, I figured there had to be abalone porridge too, right? I went into research mode, and that’s how I stumbled upon this restaurant.

I was shocked when I saw the crazy rating on Naver. It must be good!

Sea Abalone Porridge (바다마루전복죽) is actually super near Who’s Who MUMU Bakery, Busan X the Sky, where you can find the highest Starbucks, as well as the Busan Sky Capsule or Beach Train, so you can visit all of them in one go.

How to go to Sea Abalone Porridge (바다마루전복죽) :

We took a local, smaller bus, and the stop to get off at is always Mipo Moontan Road Entrance. I didn’t see any subways around, so you’ll need to take the bus to get here.

as soon as you head down the bus stop
you will face you right and you’ll want to go straight
this area is a bit weird but just head straight, don’t do sharp turns
you want to head straight to the main road
you just have to walk on towards the main road! ✨trust the process✨
okay once you reach here, you will be turning a bit towards the left (because the road’s a curve)
and voila , you’ll be able to see the sea already from here (you’re on the right path)

After passing by the building where Who’s Who MUMU Bakery is located, this will be your view. You should be able to spot a green sign.

You made it!

We were just standing there because I thought that was where you were supposed to line up. Then I saw someone go in and tap on something. That’s when I realized there was a tablet for queuing hahaha.

our number was 61 , the owner or staff will call for your number when it’s your turn

While waiting, I noticed a sign that said this restaurant has been around for 30 years already. Wow!

I was so excited as our turn neared because I could already smell how good the porridge was.

There were signatures on the wall, but I couldn’t see who signed them.

My mom and I ordered the Abalone Rice Porridge in 중, which the lady described as the basic option. She mentioned that the 특 was the upgraded version, with more abalone.

I think I’ll get the 특 next time we get a chance to come back.

We also got an order of steamed abalone (small) to share.

the steamed abalone was served first
but the porridge followed after
gosh I miss the food already, I don’t think we have abalone porridge here 🙁
get your own water!

all photos were taken using an iPhone 13 Pro Max / Fujifilm X-T20 18-55 mm

It was such a hearty meal. I wasn’t the biggest fan of porridge growing up, since I always associated it with being sick, but now I’ve learned to love it.

My dad and I just have different preferences when it comes to porridge, but I’m learning to love it (and even craving it) too.

10/10 would recommend this place to people!
