Jogae view (조개뷰 광안본점) (How to go, what to expect)

I’ll start by saying if you can find other restaurants serving grilled clams in Gwangalli, definitely go there and skip this place!

I have a separate post about some cafe and restaurants in Gwangalli, but it felt too stuffy with so much information. So, I’ve decided to write separate posts about the places here instead.

We took the subway heading here, but the walk was 18 minutes as soon as we got out.

How to go to Gwangalli –

1. Get down at Gwangan station (line 2)

2. Get out of exit 3

I just followed Naver Maps as soon as we got out of the exit, and it was a very long walk. I’d recommend taking a cab if you can, or if you’re in a group, so you can conserve energy.

You’re near already if you see this building.

The restaurant is on the 3rd floor. There should be an elevator, but I couldn’t find it, so we decided to just climb up since it was only three floors.

There were only a few people inside since I think we arrived late. We chose this table thinking it would be nice to look at the sea while eating. We were so wrong! It started getting really hot as the afternoon sun came in.

There was an English menu, but the translation was a bit wonky.

This is what we got. We thought we’d be able to eat a lot, so we chose the option with refills.

We were initially excited when the food arrived, but as we ate, we didn’t like the cheese or sauce they added to the shellfish. I think we prefer it without any extra sauce.

The staff only showed us how to cook everything and then left us, lol. They also didn’t mention the free ramen you could get. If we had known it was free, I wouldn’t have gotten the refill and would’ve just had the ramen instead.

We really had a hard time cooking everything. I was the one helping my mom, especially with cooking the oysters. I struggled to open them, and even though they saw us struggling, no one came to help, lol.

There was one staff member who helped us because we really looked like we needed it, but then another staff member came over and told him not to help us 😅.

I noticed there was an ice cream machine that was also free, but no one told us about it again! HAHA! Not sure if it’s a custom here that if it’s on display, it’s free.

I’ve probably gotten used to staff mentioning free things or seeing signs that say ‘self-service’ to know it’s free. Honestly, the ice cream was the only thing that made us happy.

all photos were taken using an iPhone 13 Pro Max / Fujifilm X-T20 18-55 mm

Please just avoid this place and head to Hajinene Grilled Clam Restaurant (하진이네) instead. It’s definitely better and worth your money dining there. Plus, you get to enjoy a view of the sea.
