Go Gyeol (고결) (How to go, what to expect)

We loved dining at Mongtan, which had a unique way of cooking beef using straw grilling. I was so happy to find a restaurant in Busan that used the same method!

Go Gyeol was just a 5-minute walk from Gwangalli beach.

I had a bit of a hard time figuring out where it was since the entrance looked like this!

There was a line when we arrived, so we had to queue right away. We waited for an hour, only to find out we could have sat on the second floor. If I hadn’t asked, we probably would’ve waited even longer.

it was stuck at this number for so long and that’s when I decided to ask a staff when one came out to call someone else

There were actually plenty of seats on the second floor, and there was a table that looked ready for a while.

There’s an English menu available, which you can access by scanning the QR code.

I was so excited when I saw these!

It took a little while for our food to arrive.

I also ordered the green onion kimchi fried rice, thinking it would be cooked after we ate or with any leftover meat, but it was served on a separate plate.

I had high expectations for this restaurant since it had a great rating on Catch Table (4.7) and plenty of positive reviews on Naver. But maybe it’s because Mongtan set the bar so high, it ended up tasting just average to me.

all photos were taken using an iPhone 13 Pro Max / Fujifilm X-T20 18-55 mm

It was a good experience, but I think I’d rather save my money and dine at Mongtan instead. Next time, I’ll probably look for other grilled restaurants in the area too!
