Mongtan Jeju (몽탄 제주) (What to expect)

We had such a great time at Mongtan back in Seoul, so I was really happy to find out there’s a branch in Jeju. I decided to have my birthday dinner here so I could also let my dad try this place!

Mongtan Jeju – 몽탄 제주

Unlike the Seoul branch where you can walk in to dine, I read that here in Jeju it’s strictly by reservation only! I saw them turn away a group of people who wanted to dine because they didn’t have reservations.

I think foreigners can make reservations through this app called Catch Table—it has to have the word GLOBAL on the icon. We can’t use the original app designed for Koreans.

you just need to enter Mongtan Jeju and it will pop up!

I made a collage of what I did step by step so you don’t have to scroll through so many screenshots ☺️. Reservations open 14 days before your target date!

Oh, don’t worry—the reservation deposit will be deducted from your final bill. Now that I’ve made the reservations, all that’s left is for us to head over there!

There’s paid parking near Mongtan Jeju, but there’s also free parking nearby.

Free parking – 동복리 1351-1
Paid parking (across) – 제주 제주시 구좌읍 동복리 836-1

Mongtan Jeju also showed how to get to the free parking on YouTube. Very thoughtful! It really helped us a lot.

The sunset on the way to the restaurant was the prettiest I saw during our whole trip.

There’s a London Bagel Museum, Cafe Layered, and Blue Elephant in the area, but I think Blue Elephant was closed for the day when we visited.

I honestly just followed the road that lead me to Blue Elephant

You’ll see two stone hedges and a road—go ahead and enter that road.

I had a good laugh before entering the restaurant because I didn’t know how to get in. I could hear people chatting, so I knew I must be near the door. It took me a while to realize I had to push the button to open the door HAHAHA!

push this so that the door will open

Once we were inside, I gave them my name, and they guided us all to our table.

banchan was already on our table!

Menu! The fried rice here was different, I preferred the one from Seoul.

After we placed our orders, Dad and I went outside to take photos while the sun was still out, but it was already setting, so we had to rush.

speechless

this was the back side of the restaurant!
I finally understood what people mean when they say Jeju sunsets hit different

Our food was already served when we got back!

best pairing mwah!
I felt very thankful and grateful to share this moment with my parents

all photos were taken using an iPhone 13 Pro Max / Fujifilm X-T20 18-55 mm

It’s been a while since I was genuinely happy on my birthday, and this day was one of those times.

Oh, definitely go and try this place if you want to experience Mongtan during your Jeju trip—same quality without the long wait 💖.
