Gapyeong City (exploring Nami Island, Le Petite France, and Garden of the Morning Calm without rushing and squeezing with tourists)

Gapyeong City is famous for it’s best tourist attraction – Nami Island. Unfortunately, not everyone knows that Gapyeong City also has Le Petite France and Garden of the Morning calm which is just as beautiful as Nami Island.

I’ll share with you guys how we explored Nami Island, Le Petite France, and Garden of the Morning Calm without squeezing with all tourists and without rushing! (as what I wrote for this blog title 😂)

First things first, how to go to Gapyeong City

Get down at Gapyeong (Gyuongchun line), there is only one exit as you arrive the station.

Pay 6,000 won (cash) to the driver as soon as you get in. The driver will give you a ticket. You can use this ticket to go to Nami Island, Le Petite France, and Garden of the Morning Calm via the Gapyeong City Tour bus.

How we were able to squeeze in the three places in one day – we went to these places in this order:
GARDEN OF THE MORNING CALM – LE PETITE FRANCE – NAMI ISLAND

I noticed that people usually visit Nami Island first – hence there will be a lot of tourists from morning to around after lunch, so head first to the farthest venue and the “least visited” place among the three.

Earliest and best time to be in Gapyeong already: 9 am (to be able to catch the 9:10 am bus)

C. Nami Island

By the time you get to Nami Island, tourists are already leaving! Perfect time to take photos and explore the place.

This is not my first time in Nami, I’ve already seen Nami during winter and now spring time!! I can’t wait to be back during autumn!

      1. Can you give me the details about what time did you leave garden of morning calm, leave petite france, and leave nami island? Thank you!

      2. Hi Sarah! Time stated below was based on our last 2019 trip and the updated bus schedule –

Garden of the morning calm: 12:30
        Le Petite France: 14:50
Nami Island: 17:57 (please take note this is the time the bus leaves Nami Island Station, you have to leave the Island itself earlier since you have to still have to ride a ferry)

        😊

  1. Hi Regine: Question on the bus ride — since you first went to Garden of the morning calm it means you already past by Nami Island stop & Le petite france,…

Does that mean, you took the bus again from the gapyeong staiong going to Nami Island stop & Le petite france , since Garden of the morning calm is at the last?..
    is it the same bus?

what about the 6000won ticket,,,, valid whole day?
    Please confirm…

    1. Hi Oh no it’s Ami, yes it was the same bus. The first stops are Nami Island and Le Petite France. You can see that based on the bus schedule I have provided above.

Yes the 6,000 wom ticket is valid the whole day

    1. Hi H! Yes, you can also opt to go to Cheongpyeong Station as well since the bus passes by there as well 🙂

Just make sure to take note on what time the bus will arrive Cheongpyeong Station so that you won’t have to wait long 💖

  2. Hello. If I want to go to Garden of Morning Calm first too, is it possible if (I’m taking a train from Myeongdong) I stop at Cheongpyeong station instead of Gapyeong station because its nearer to Garden of Moning Calm? I can save time and budget too.

    1. Hi WArdah! I believe you can 😊 you just have to know what time the bus will arrive at Cheongpyeong station so that you don’t have to wait long. I haven’t tried riding from Cheongpyeong station but theoretically if we base it on their bus schedule you could 😊

  3. Hi Regine, I am thinking of heading to Nami Island approximately 2pm and then head to garden of the morning calm after that to see the night lights. May i know if you have any tips or directions to give? I would also be going there from chuncheon station as i am going to the rail bike park there, any tips or information would be amazing!

By the way, I love how informative your posts for Korea is especially this one its really helpful and full of information thanks again!

    1. Hi Xiang, thank you for your kind words 😊💖hmm for tips, the best I can give is to check what time will the bus be arriving Chuncheon station that will be headed to Nami Island or towards the rail bike park so that you don’t have to wait so long should you miss the bus. The time per stop are usually exact and on time unless something happened to the bus.

What I did to to make sure I catch the bus as per schedule, I scheduled alarms which will remind me that it’s almost time for the bus to arrive. 😊

If you have more questions, please don’t hesistate to comment or message me 💖 have a lovely trip to Seoul!

  4. Hi Regine ~ May i know did you go to Gapyeong Rail Park? Is this also included in the 6000 won Gapyeong City Tour Bus coz i saw this in the brochure you posted ~ Could you advice on how should i plan the route if i would like to go Garden of Morning Calm, Le Petite France, Nami and Gapyeong Rail Park? Sorry for all the Qs…this will be my 1st visit to Nami haha…

    1. Hi lemontea, no, I didn’t go to Gapyeong Rail Park, and yes it is included in the 6,000 won payment when you take the Gapyeong City Tour Bus.

Regarding the route, I’m not sure how to give you the plan as I haven’t been to Gapyeong Rail Park. From experience tho, since I was very early already to explore Gapyeong area, the day was just right as to explore the 3 places: Garden of the Morning Calm, Le Petite France, and Nami Island. I believe you have to choose only 3 destinations when you visit and come back to visit other areas 😊
