6 Days 5 Nights Itinerary in Shanghai with your squad (with Shanghai Disneyland and Happy Valley)

First of all, I am so sorry I cannot share a lot of photos and “how to” details since I lost of my Shanghai trip photos a few months ago 😢. Tho, I did my best to ask for photos from one of my best friends, Yan, and my friends, Kenrick and Enzo, who were both with me during the trip!! Most of the photos came from them! Thank you, again!

We had a total of 6 Days and 5 Nights in Shanghai. We weren’t able to do much during the first day since our flight was actually at night.

For our itinerary and “how to go” of the places we went to, scroll down below (it’s at the end of this post) 💖 I’ll try to give a more detailed directions when I go back to Shanghai

(ps. I went back to Shanghai this 2018 and was able to make a detailed step by step guide on how to buy train tickets! read me if you’re interested)

!! PS. YOU NEED A CHINA VISA IF YOU WILL VISIT SHANGHAI! Golden Chariot Tour and Travel Planner Inc. always helps me whenever I need to apply for a visa.

Day 1

  • fly from MNL to Shanghai

Our flight was at 8:40 pm and our arrival time was at 12:00 am the next day.

Day 2

  • East Nanjing Road
  • Xintiandi

We actually left late during this day since we settled down in our Airbnb (which I will not recommend for you to stay in) at around 4am? Everyone decided to have a chill day that day since we were all tired from our flight.

East Nanjing Road

Nanjing road is huge and there is a West and an East station. We decided to explore  East Nanjing Road. We just walked around the area, take a peek inside the M&M store and eat a lot of skewers from the Chicken Steak stall. After a few hours roaming around, we decided to head down to Xintiandi since it was already late.

Xintiandi

This place is perfect for those who want to take A LOT of Instagram photos and to those who loves to drink.

Best come here before sunset so that you can take photos with natural lighting. After my everyone took (endless) photos we decided to walk around. During that time we spotted Estado Puro because of their sign “happy hour 50% off drinks”. Las tapas by Paco Roncero has THE BEST SANGRIA ever! I’m not gonna lie!! We ordered I think 7 glasses of Sangria (can’t choose which is better between both “flavors” that they offered because both were so good!)

East Nanjing Road (again)

We only ordered and ate a few food in Estado Puro (they were a little bit pricy) so most of us were hungry. Since we didn’t want to spend so much on food, we decided to head back to East Nanjing Road and find the Chicken Steak stall. We ordered a lot of duck, lamb skewers and chicken chops. (You shouldn’t miss this stall if you’re in Shanghai).

Day 3

I already know that the best time to visit China is after Chinese New Year so when we arrived in Disneyland I was glad that there were barely any people! We were so happy since we didn’t want to be in a huge crowd.

The first ride we went to was (obviously) Tron and IT WAS CRAZY! Definitely an addition to my favorite rides in Disneyland.

We booked our tickets thru Klook.

Day 4

Happy Valley

I heard that this theme park lost it’s “spark” after Disneyland opened in Shanghai. Nonetheless, my friends and I still pushed to come here since majority of us are adrenaline junkies! We weren’t able to get the adrenaline rush we needed from the rides in Disneyland (let’s face it the rides are really made for kids).

The park was (sadly) deserted in a way. There wasn’t a lot of people when we arrived but WE WERE HAPPY since it felt like the whole park was “closed” just for us!

The rides definitely did not disappoint!! We were glad that we decided to come here.

Day 5

  • The Bund
  • East Nanjing Road (again pt 2)
  • M1NT

The Bund

M1NT (club in Shanghai)

There were a lot of clubs that we wanted to visit but after asking around for people’s suggestion, we decided to go to M1NT.

Supposedly you can enter M1NT without paying (from what I know) but when we decided to visit there was an “event” so we had to pay for our entrance ticket. The ticket costed around 100RMB but it has 2 free drinks included (the usual when you pay for entrance tickets).

One of our friend was also able to ask one of the owners/promoter to greet the couple who just got engaged!

Day 6

  • Yu Yuan Bazaar
  • Xintiandi (again pt 2)
  • East Nanjing Road (again pt 3)
  • fly out from Shanghai to MNL

Yu Yuan Bazaar

We went here since I wanted my friends to try the different food that the place offered and the huge Xiao Long Bao (you have to use the straw to drink the soup inside).

The restaurant where we went to was Nanxiang Steamed Buns Restaurant (南翔饅頭店)

IMG_4921
Yan and I got stamps! (I only had my english name caved years ago so I bought one with my chinese name caved at the bottom)

Xintiandi (again)

We came back here just to drink their Sangria. Sadly they didn’t have the happy hour anymore since it was already the weekend when we went back.

The waiter remembered us and laughed as soon as he saw us and gave us our “old” seats (where we sat the first time we went there). We drank to our heart’s desire since it was already our last day.

East Nanjing Road (again)

We really wanted to maximize our last day so we went back to East Nanjing Road again just for the Chicken Steak stall (it was seriously good that we were really addicted to it).

Screen Shot 2017-11-14 at 4.45.21 PM.png

We had to hurry back to our Airbnb after satisfying our tummy because it was already late and some of our stuff was still not packed . Our flight was at 1 am that’s why we were able to maximize our last day in Shanghai.

    1. Hello! For this post, I went to Shanghai towards the latter part of February. It was very cold 😊
I also went back on the latter part of October this year and it was a bit warmer to the temperature during February

  1. May I know how you able to go to city centre from the airport since you arrived 12 mn? Is there any train or bus available?

    1. Hi Jrv! During that time with my friends, I rented a van since we were a lot and it was my dad’s friend who helped me out. A year after, I went back with my parents and we took a cab – there is a taxi stand outside the airport.

  2. Hi why do you not recommend airbnb in shanghai? We already book a unit in airbnb in pujian area? Any advise? Thanks

    1. Hi , airbnb is okay in Shanghai. It just so happen that the airbnb we booked is not okay 😊 when I went back to Shanghai last 2018, the airbnb I rented was okay.

  3. Hi Regine, I booked in Air bnb but I got this notification below. Your input will be highly appreciated.

A reminder for foreign guests: according to the Chinese law, foreigners should register in a police office beside the place where he/she may stay, within 24hrs after arriving in China.

We warmly welcome you to stay in our Air bnb, however it is your choice of register or not, and we are sorry that we could not provide any support on police registration. Our home manager may ask you to provide a copy of passport in case there is any emergency, but it is not for governmental registration. We suggest you stay in a formal hotel which all shares information with the police, if you care about it.

    1. Hi Chai, I have never encountered something like this as per my experience whenever I am in China. My advice would be changing your lodging preferences 🙂
