Honestly I really didn’t care much for my skin but sometime during the middle of this year I suddenly realized that taking care of one’s skin is important (esp since I’m not getting any younger). Since then I’ve been trying a lot of products that will help me cleanse and moisture my skin. I actually found products that worked perfect for me (hopefully you too)!
I would still get mini breakouts when “it’s that time” especially on my t-zone but the condition of my skin has never been this great!!!
Finding good skin care products was not only my “problem” since I was also jealous of my Filipino friends who had long lashes (I would have to put fake lashes while they can just curl theirs and put mascara).
Being Chinese, the length of my eyelashes are craazyy short so I’ve searched and tried a lot of products before I found ones that are effective and not painful (some serums can hurt your eye when you blink after applying) and gave good results.
So finally here is my current nighttime skin care routine and secret to longer lashes!
I actually triple cleanse (oil based make up remover + foam based cleaner + pore cleanser) . I tried the “free products” given by Shu Umera and Etutde House and I was shocked to see the make up residues left even after using my oil based make up remover and foam based cleanser.
1. Etude House Lip & Eye Remover
I’m not really particularly picky with my make up remover since all I want is that it will remove my make up. I would usually “grab” whatever is available when I need to buy it.
2. Tony Moly Fermentation Broccoli Foam Cleanser / Etude House Baking Powder
Again, just like my oil based make up remover, I would “grab” whatever was available. The Tony Moly Fermentation Broccoli Foam Cleanser was a gift from one of my best friends, Serene!! (Sadly this is not available in the Philippines) I actually use the Tony Moly at night while the Etude House before I take a bath. (Yah, I wash my face first before taking a bath). I actually want to try different foam cleansers, can you recommend any??
3. Shu Uemura Skin Purifier / Etude House Wonder Pore Freshener
This was actually just a recent addition to my skin care especially in the cleansing part. These two were actually just the free samples when I bought from the brand. One night, I was curious about these products so I used them after using my foam cleanser. I was shocked (and disgusted) to see that there was still make up residue left or that the cotton would be dirty (super eww). After seeing that, I felt that my pores weren’t clean enough even after double cleansing. Ever since then, I made it a point to triple cleanse.
**Currently bought a bigger version (like 500ml big) of the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshener
4. The Face Shop Chia Seed Hydrating Toner
This has been one of my holy grail products ever since I discovered it. I would place the product on my hand and pat it on my face. After the product dries on your skin you will instantly feel that your skin is hydrated!!
5. Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask
At first I was skeptical about face masks because I thought to myself “are these really effective???”
I initially tried the free ones from Etude House (sometimes they give out free face masks when you reach a certain amount) and I was surprised at the result! Tho, I was not satisfied with the result from Etude’s face mask.
I was in Hong kong during the time that I was in the look out for good face masks when I stumbled upon Innisfree. Innisfree has been famous for their facemasks and clay masks so I had to try them.
I bought a few in Hong Kong and tried it there. I instantly fell in love since it gave me the hydration I wanted and bought A LOT to bring back home.
Sadly there is no Innisfree in the Philippines but there are a lot of online stores selling these facemasks.
I only apply this once a week since I don’t think I can afford buying facemasks to use everyday. I would open and use the facemask after the hydrating toner has settled on my skin.
6. Clarins Defining Eye Life
After reading about articles that you should add eye creams to your skin routine and what not, I immediately asked my mom if she uses any product for her eye and she does. This is actually what she uses and tho it’s not an eye cream product, it actually relieves the puffiness around your eye. I need more cause my eyebags are so bad plus my eyes are usually puffy since I’m always staring at the computer or I lack sleep. This is a little bit pricy so I’m still on the look out for a cheaper alternative!
7. Extend by Browhaus / Lipocilis Platinum by Talika
I have tried a lot of serums that hurt my eye without giving results or it hurt my eye but gave me good results.
I realized I don’t want risk the pain for good results since there might be a chance I can go blind.
I will write about Extend by Browhaus first since I tried this before Lipocilis Platinum.
I was actually getting tired and getting discouraged with the serums I’ve tried when I bought this but I told myself that if this won’t work then maybe there’s no hope for my lashes anymore (I really wanted “naturally” long lashes)
It took me a few months before I actually appreciated this product. The serum did not hurt my eye even if some of the product would get inside my eye. This has been the safest one I’ve tried but you will definitely need patience for this one.
It took around I think 3-4 months before I saw little growth in my lashes but it gave me hope when I saw it grew. It took me a while but my lashes definitely became longer thanks to this product.
I don’t have a before and after photo but my friends can totally vouch for me since they also noticed that my lashes grew longer. It’s been a while since I’ve actually used fake eyelashes since I can easily curl my lashes and put (multiple layers) or mascara!!
I just discovered Lipocilis Platinum by Talika earlier this year while I was inside the airplane en route to Hong Kong. I was reading magazines that the airline provided and saw Talika’s ad. I was curious since the difference of the before and after photo was so huge!
This is actually more pricy than Extend but with shorter “waiting time” for the result. They were definitely true to what they claim (they wrote all their claims on the box).
We actually compared prices and the cheapest place to buy this is inside Cathay Pacific’s Duty Free Store inside the plane but if you’re not going to ride Cathay going to Hong Kong then the second best place to get this is in Sasa Hong Kong.
8. Tony Moly Ferment Snail Emulsion
I have to thank one of my best friends, Serene for recommending this to me!!
I don’t have a good moisturizer so I asked her what she was using. I instantly bought this one and it has also been one of my holy grail products ever since! (I then recommended this to one of my good friend and she said her skin felt so great after trying this product)
I would usually wait for the initial product/s to settle in my skin before applying this product just to not irritate my skin.
You will definitely feel the moisturizing effect immediately when you wake up (you have my word for it!)
It also has a whitening effect so I would put more on some dark spots (if I get mini breakouts) just to have those spots lighten up.
My skin care routine is actually not as “extreme” as others but hopefully these products can help you if you want to moisturize your skin and also I hope the lash serums can also help you make your lashes longer!
It took me a while to discover these products that’s why I wanted to share them with you.💖
Here is also a rare selfie of me (on my good day) without make up because I want to encourage everyone to start taking care of their skin since I believe it’s important to have a healthy skin!
I can’t wait to hear if these products also worked well for you!!!! Are there any products that you would want to recommend to me??
